  • Pentax Releases First Medium-Format D-SLR camera: the 645D
    03.12.2010

Pentax Imaging Systems has joined a new sector of the digital camera market with the release of their first medium-format digital SLR camera: the 645D.

With an incredible 40 megapixel 44mm by 33mm Kodak CCD sensor, the 645D is prepared to shoot serious, high-quality images. Pentax-original image-processing technology and the PRIME (Pentax Real Image Engine) II team up to provide extra-sharp images with high-speed processing. What else is necessary?

Ideal for landscape and outdoor photographs, the Pentax 645D packs a serious punch with a lightweight, but solid, body. The frame is crafted from magnesium-steel alloy and the chassis is diecast aluminum. LCD panels are protected by tempered glass plates and the entire unite celebrates 70 special seals to protect any photographer’s images from the elements.

Pentax has also officially released the first 645d lens crafted for this digital SLR: the smc Pentax-D FA 645 55mmF2.8 AL[IF] SDM AW. Also great for outdoor use, this unifocal lens features dust-proof, weather-resistant construction and state-of-the-art optics for super-high-resolution photography possibilities.

Japan will be the first to get their hands on the 645D in May. No word has been released on when Americans can expect the Pentax 645D release for sale.
