  • HP Compaq AirLife 100: the New Netbook with a Smartphone Touch
    03.08.2010

HP is prepared to introduce the bustling smartphone market to the netbook world with the Compaq AirLife 100. Set for release in the spring of 2010, the Android-powered smartbook delivers music, photos and, most importantly, the Web right to your fingertips, literally. The 10.1 inch screen has touch functionality like that of the current smartphone market.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, instead of the usual netbook Intel Atom, the AirLife 100 can run just like a smartphone with a battery life of 12 hours and 10 days of standby. Working during the day and charging during the night is entirely possible.

Some even say the AirLife 100 may be a suitable competitor to the Apple iPad once it is released. The Wi-Fi only version of the iPad is said to be released on April 3rd (with no clear 3G-equipped release date set) but while the AirLife 100 has no set US release date, the unit does include built-in 3G capability, a feature which is no customary for the iPad.

Only time can tell how HP will fare to satisfy in this bubbling smartbook market.
