Building off the successful, world's first Four Thirds camera, the Lumix DMC-G1, Panasonic has unveiled another upgrade to the world of photographic innovation. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 is now the world's first interchangeable lens system digital camera with a moveable LCD touch-screen.

The distinguishing feature of the DMC-G2, the moveable LCD is a stunning three inches of visual clarity and camera functionality. The tilt and swivel motion of the screen allows the photographer to visualize their shots from multiple viewing angles. The free-angle screen rotates 180 degrees to the side and tilts 270 degrees up and down. With one touch of the LCD screen a photographer of any skill level can quickly snap a photo or adjust features, such as AF Tracking.

“Touch-operation is a user interface with which many consumers are both familiar and expect, and we think the LUMIX G2’s touch-operation makes it easier and quicker to take photos and videos that have professional-like effects, “ said David Briganti, Panasonic’s Senior Product Manager, Imaging.

The DMC-G2 still retains the 12.1 megapixel system of the G1 but it also brandishes a re-engineered system for image quality called the Venus Engine HD II. Beautiful photos and HD video are possible with high quality signal processing, according to Panasonic.

The Panasonic DMC-G2 also joins the LUMIX G10 today as the latest announcements of additions to the Lumix G Micro System.
