  • Canon Toner Cartridge Recycling Program Celebrates 20 Years
    12.11.2009

Canon has announced that next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Canon Toner Cartridge Recycling Program.

Since 1990, Canon has recycled, reused or recovered toner cartridges, collecting a grand total of approximately 220,000 metric tons. The recycling operation now stretches a total of 23 countries worldwide.

Recycling and reusing is also a consideration during the production of Canon products. Closed-loop recycling recognizes that the creation of the toner cartridge could be facilitated to be reused once the consumer has been satisfied by the product. In this way Canon's four recycling bases continue to achieve 100% resource recovery for zero landfill waste.

Canon has played an influential role in the development of the printing industry. In 1982, Canon made history by offering the world's first personal copying machines with replaceable all-in-one toner cartridges. Further commanding progress in the industry, Canon began the Toner Cartridge Recycling program to stay true to their kyosei-living and working for the common good corporate philosophy.
