  • Nikon Officially Announces Their Much Anticipated D7000 DSLR Camera
    09.15.2010

After many rumors and much anticipation Nikon announced their newest DSLR camera the Nikon D7000, a model that introduces a new line of mid-class Nikon DX-format digital-SLR cameras. The D7000 replaces the popular D90 in Nikon's DSLR line-up and it includes many new and improved features and technologies that will make the D7000 an object of envy for photo enthusiast everywhere. "This is a camera that enables D-SLR users to achieve a true expression of their creative vision, while concentrating primarily on image quality above all else," said Lisa Osorio, general manager of marketing at Nikon Inc.

The Nikon D7000 is encased in a compact and elegant body with a magnesium alloy top and back and provides an effective pixel count of 16.2 megapixels which allows the capture of extremely superior high-definition images. The D7000 is equipped with a new CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine the much anticipated EXPEED 2 which Nikon claims combine to provide low-light performance that is unmatched by an APS-C sensor. The EXPEED 2 offers amazing shutter response and a much improved AF speed, which is necessary for its new 39-point AF system.

The D7000 also takes video capture very seriously and is a great choice for videographers. Video features include 1080p HD video, full-time autofocus, exposure control, 24 and 30 fps frame rates, and the ability to edit videos directly on the camera. Also for those who constantly switch between photo and video capture the D700 is equipped with a dedicated live view switch and a video record button.

The D7000 D-SLR camera will be available beginning mid-October 2010 at an MSRP of $1199.95 for the body only and $1499.95 for the body and lens outfit that includes the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.
